The tragic loss of a law enforcement officer within the community is generally very emotional and profound. The outpouring of emotions and gratitude from the community is always encouraging and appreciated. We are cognizant that there is a grieving widow and/or family as the result of this tragedy and they are who we want to offer support too.
We also are cognizant that much of the help families of the fallen will receive from many associations, unions, and additional charities will slowly go back to business as usual and/or move on to the next family needing help. There are well established organizations that host therapeutic events to assist with the loss of a family member, and we do not wish to duplicate that effort. This is why we have created the Children of the Blue Line program. This program is designed to get families of the fallen, specifically children of the fallen, together at a sporting event or entertainment venue. The idea is to offer a fun light hearted event for kids and widows to enjoy hopefully talk to each other with the motivation they recognize each of them knows what they all have gone through. It is this commonality that we hope turns into long term communication and a organically grown support network to help get everyone through a traumatic and difficult tragedy. We, additionally, hope that each of these families will know that they will forever be apart of the Blue Family and are not forgotten when everyday life takes back over and the world moves on.
In the same breath in the creation of the Children of the Blue Line we also organized the Children of the Green Line. This program is very similar in ideology, however this program deals with disabled military veteran families. Military families that have one or more disabled veterans in them deal with very specific issues as well that civilian families generally don't deal with.
It is for this reason we try to work with peer organizations when they have events at entertainment venues to participate or we will book a stand alone event and invite as many disabled veteran families with children as we can. We hope the same communication and organic relationship is developed between veteran children so they grow a support network larger than they had prior to participating in the program.
Both of these vital programs are supported for the well-being of service families that have sacrificed for our country and/or community.
We hope you find as much value in the investment of service family children as we do. If you are in a position to assist us with our mission please contact us at americasdef@gmail.com for more information.
